Hi to all,

We have been a bit shy and just read threads but can see all the very useful information and friendly nature and support you all have and we wanted to be a part of that and down the line hopefully help others through this adventure.

We have just made the very first step and decided we both want to move to Oz. We're very daunted by the whole application process but keen to go without an agent if poss just cos of funds. I think I have a strong case and have been advised I have 125 points. Is no agent a bad idea?

Looking forwad to meeting you all,

Hey there,

Will be great to be alongside a buddy doing the process too. We're going to Sydney first for a little while. I'm a nurse so can work anywhere. OH training to be a plumber -though he will have to start that again when we get there. How about you?

Welcome to PIO and good luck with your application. It's really personal choice on if you use an agent, there's a pretty even mix on here, some used an agent because their situation was difficult, or because they wanted peace of mind. We didn't use an agent because our application was pretty straight forward.

G'uday...................... nice to see you aren't lurking anymore.................. join in and enjoy.:jiggy:

You'll find some real nice friendly people on here..................... and you'll learn a whole lot about life in the sun down-under.................. mostly good.................. with a slight tinge of sadness now and then as Oz isn't for everyone.

Hi Bonnie and Cylde

We havent been on this site very long, but everyone is so helpful. Welcome to the site. I see you are a nurse, I am also a nurse and have gone through a recruitment agency and they have been very helpful. I applied to them in May of this year got a job offer in June and we are now going through the process of applying for our visas. They have been there every step of the way for us

Hi Cheryl,

Thanks for our reply.

Looking through RCN mags last night I found some ads for agencies and did think they looked promising. Will give them a call later today and get some info,

Cheers,

We were granted our Visa in June this year, we started the application in November 06, the longest bit was waiting for my husbands qualifications to be certified with Engineers OZ. We did it without an agent, just take your time and read, then read again all they are asking for and check and double check before you send. lots on here have used agents and were glad of their help but for us it was fine to go it alone. We were fortunate in the my husbands job is on the skills in demand and therefore our application was pretty straight forward.

Where abouts are you in Coventry? We lived in Coundon/Radford areas for almost 30 years until moving out near Southam. Small world!

best wishes, Michelle

Hi and welcome to PIO. We used an agent because I felt that what with working and bringing up 2 kids I would only have the evenings to concentrate on getting it sorted, I also felt very unsure if we would even pass the TRA. And to be completely honest, after about 8pm my mind turns to mush.:err: I felt we had one shot at this and I didn't want it to fail.

There was alot of digging for certificates and back and forth to get them certified - and I even managed to do that wrong - thank god for my agent:notworthy:.

Hi Guys,

Great and sound advice from you all.

Thanks Theresa - no doubt will be in touch!:cute:

Michelle - we live in your old area!!! It IS a small world! You going to Sydney too??!:jiggy:

One question though - if we have a go at application ourselves, no agent - what happens if we mess it up along the way and get rejected. Can we reapply again? Is it one strike and you're out?

Bonnie - just finished night shift and v tired!!! :SLEEP:Clyde at work:arghh:
